Me & MyCity named as a winner in World Innovation Summit for Education

Me & MyCity is proud to announce that it has today been named as a 2014 WISE Awards Winner. Me & MyCity is one of six projects chosen by World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) for providing a compelling, innovative solution to one of today’s most pressing challenges in education.

After a thorough review process that evaluated hundreds of applications, Me & MyCity was considered by all WISE Jury members to be of outstanding quality and to have achieved exceptional impact through innovation.

Inaugurated in 2009, the WISE Awards identify and promote unique and novel solutions to real-world education challenges. This year’s winning projects demonstrated innovative thinking and concrete impact on communities and societies as well as the ability to be replicated in other contexts and regions.

The key innovation identified by the assessors was the fact that
Me & MyCity is free of cost for the schools and integrated into the national curriculum. The program is designed to have high impact on both 6th grade students as well as indirect beneficiaries such as teachers, companies and university students. Me & MyCity was seen to be implemented with quality, consistency and scale.

Tomi Alakoski, Executive Director, Me & MyCity said: “We are extremely happy that Me & MyCity has been named as a 2014 WISE Awards Winner. This is an acknowledgement of the real impact Me & MyCity has on society.”

The six winning projects will be celebrated at the sixth World Innovation Summit for Education, November 4-6, 2014, in Doha, Qatar. Each will receive $20,000 (US).
